which model recessed can

Im going to be installing a drop ceiling in my basement. The drop ceiling tiles will be the ones with the insulation. The ceiling tile will fall approx 5" from the joist. Which recessed cans do I use? I believe they have to be hung like the cross t's for the ceiling tiles right?

Thanks

Normal (?) recessed cans need about 8" of clearance above. You will need to select a can where the bulb "mounts" parallel to the floor. 5" is probably about the minimum for those type; you'll just have to take a tape measure to the supply house or find that information in some literature. I will say that your choices will be limited.

You can also investigate "mini-cans". They would probably fit within your restrictions.
