what kind of garage door opener??
I appologize for this question but I have recently obtained a garage door opener from a friend and also purchased a skylink keyless remote (model 39) for it and I'm not sure how to get the remote to work with my door. Unfortunately I do not know much about what kind of door opener I have....
On the metal lid it says "Knox Lumber Company"..."Residential Door Operator Model 2500" and looks like it was made in 1988.
Do you have any ideas on what kind of door opener I have?

If you are unable to find a nameplate on it that gives the actual manufacturer, you probably won't have much of a chance of getting a replacement remote that will work. However, you may be able to get a universal replacement receiver and wireless transmitter that would work. However, you are talking about a 15 year old opener mechanism. For not much more, you could get a complete new operator altogether.
