Low Voltage Lighting

I am planning to put a run of low voltage lighting in my front yard. I plan to buy one of those kits that includes the lights, wire, rectifier etc., from Home Depot.

My question is does this system need to be GFCI protected and how deep will I need to bury the wire. These things will help me determine whether or not I go forward with this.

Thanks,

If you are plugging it into a receptacle in your garage or an outdoor receptacle it should already have ground fault protection. I can't say if it is REQUIRED.
The wire is low voltage. I don't think it has to be buried if you don't want to. You can just lay it around in the garden. You should bury it if the lawn mower might hit it.
