Question Light problem?

Hi,
About 7yrs ago we re-modeled or kitchen. They installed a square shaped flouresent light fixture.
It has two round bulbs, one 32 watt, the other 22 watt.
I have replaced the bulbs, but it hesitates to light when you turn it on,and sometimes is a little dim, then if I tap it it gets brighter.
I don't see a starter on this????
What do you suggest doing to fix this?Is it something I can do myself,Iam pretty handy. Thanks

It sounds like a loose connection (probably neutral) it could either be in the fixture or a juction box. You will need to turn off the power to the light, pull it down, and check the connections. It is possible you may have to replace the fixture.

It is most likely that you need to replace the ballast. They are available at the big box stores.
