Switch installation

I have now discovered that the lighting system in my detached garage is not done properly. The power comes in the switch boxes, the switch is installed in the commen white wire. Should I change all of these?

Are you sure the power comes into the switch. It is common to have a white wire on the switch if the power comes into the light. How many wires are in the switch box ans what are they connect to?
If the switch is in the neutral then it should be changed.

I'm building an appartment above my garage, doing all the work myself. I'm about to seal up the walls exposing the bathroom plumbing, and I've noticed a place where my 12/2 wiring is tight against the copper pipe, both hot and cold, running to the bath/shower. Is this dangerous? I could move a stud to get some slack in the wire, but it won't be easy. What do you think? Thanks, Pete.Read More

I need about 15-20 of these. Can't I just use -----> http://www.cooperlighting.com/search/products.asp?id=1943&brand=Halo&app=Recessed+Downlight&lightsource=Incandescent <---- this can which is $10 plus another $10 for the ring with a screw in fluorescent bulb and get the same situation. The manufactor of my drop ceiling is says that std incadscent bulbs can melt the plastic front of the tile.Read More
