microwave light bulb...rip off

Our GE microwave ( 3 years old ) just had one of its " night lights" burn out. My wife called GE service and they sold her a replacement bulb ( WB 36 X 10003 ) for $ 28.00 !

It is a 40 watt 130 volt light bulb.

Is it really a special bulb or will another bulb with the same base and wattage work? Does it have to be 130 volts?

Thanks in advance for saving my checkbook !

Ray

I'm guessing that you can find a suitable appliance bulb at Target or KMart for much, much less. Sounds like a pretty common bulb to me.

A 130V bulb will have a longer life when used at 120V. Try asking this same question on the electric appliances section and see what they come up with.
