new wiring

I am looking at a HUD "fixer-upper" house and need to submit a bid asap. It looks to me like it's going to need all new wiring--the breaker box looks OK, but not much else. It's a smallish house--around 1,000 sq feet. Is there anyway to get a ballpark figure of what it might cost to get that done? Thanks.

Installed two new fixtures in attic. When restoing power all other lights in garage are now dim. I tied into power from one of the other existing fictures with the black and white leads. The old wire has a red wire that I left tied together and confirmed that the white and black were carrying power with a testor. The new lights are bright? Any hints?Read More

Ever since I drywalled my garage my garage outlets work sometimes, and sometimes they won't. The house is now up for sale and I know they are going to have a home inspection done. I have a three prong circuit tester. The one with a red and two orange lights. What I am getting (outlets not working) is an open neutral. When I keep the tester plugged in and plug in a device (stereo or battery charger) it changes to "hot and ground reversed". I am ready to pull these things out of the wall as I have been up and down the basement stairs about 40x today. What am I missing? Thanks in advance!Read More
