On your side of the pond, the terminology is considerably different than on our side. I can translate most of what you say, but I am having trouble with the word "tube". All of the following terms are strange here:

Tubes
Mains
Ceiling Rose
SL
Loop

The two terms I've got nailed are:

Live = hot
Earth = ground

Can you (or someone else) help with the translation?

Tubes
Flourescent tubes, perhaps the whole fixture assembly.
Mains
Electric power from the utility grid.
Ceiling Rose
Junction box specifically for lighting fixtures.
SL
Loop
Switch loop.

Ordinarily, in the UK, I'd think you'd run mains to fixture, switch loop to switch.

Yes.

And thanks to you both for the translations.
