Longest Lasting Outdoor Lights?

I have 8 outdoor light fixtures to replace on my house.

Since it's going to take a while to replace , I'd like to replace these as seldom as possible so any suggestions on which lights to buy?

Also, Are all outdoor lights aluminum?

Outdoor fixtures are made from all sorts of materials, but aluminum and plastic are the most weather resistant. Besides incandescent, there are other light sources to consider, especially if energy efficiency and long life are important. Compact fluorescent, HPS (high pressure sodium), and MH (metal halide) are three good bets. Some of these sources have nominal life of 24,000 hours, compared with an incandescents life of 750-2000 hours. You will spend more on the fixtures initially, but the energy savings will eventually pay for the fixtures.
