Replacing Hall Light

I am replacing a hall light with a new light. House built around 1978. Supply wiring probably rated 60 degrees centigrade max. New light requires supply connection wire rated for at least 75 degrees centigrade. One of the previous posts in this section says use new nm-b 90 degree rated wire for the last foot before a new box. Question: How can I tell what the degree rating is on the replacement wire. Thanks.

It should be marked on the sheathing. If its not, you have to take it at 60.

stove wiring

I'm trying to change stoves in my mom's kitchen and the old stove has wires running to a metal box then wires to the wall. I was expecting to see an outlet to just plug into. How do I remove the wires to get it out and then wire up the new one? Is this something a novice like myself should attempt? Finally, Big Thanks to everyone on the board who takes time to answer questions and help people out many miles away! khf

is it legal to hook up a 110-volt circuit from a 220-volt circuit (using one of the hots and the neutral) , or should i run a separate circuit from the panel? i'm referring to using a 220-v receptacle to make the 110-v also, is the white return wire in a three wire 220-volt circuit accurately called a 'neutral'?
