house flicker
ok , i'm no electrician but my friend has a problem
happrox. half of his house flickers to the point of a 100 watt bulb going to about a nightlight strength
its 30 yrs old
old breakers you push them in to click
it seems to affect a few breaker areas
i looked in panel and cant find anything common about three(read first line though)
there is nothing on when this happens
we at first thought it was micro, but it happens when all is quiet
any thoughts anyone?
thanx

If this is a recent development, I'd start by having your friend call the power company and telling them what you told us.
Is there any event that he can tie to the dimming? Does it happen when the refrigerator kicks on perhaps? Or is it just at random times? How long does the dimming last? Are all three breakers on the same leg of the power?

flicker fix?
It sounds to me like the flicker might be coming from the outside of the house, one of the hot legs of the service may have a bad connection @ the pole or @ the house, i would call the utility company and have them check all of the outside components, also, if it is happening when the utility comes and they get full voltage at the meter pan at the same time, you would probably have an inside problem. but first let them check their stuff.(I am a troubleman for a utility company)...good luck

just adding to my last reply, the dimming could also be a neutral problem, are there any trees that are heavy on the service outside? you may want to have the utility check the neutral connections also.
