220v outlet

I had a friend test my 220 v outlet to my dryer because it stopped running. The outlet is not getting power. What are possible sources of problems and solutions.

1. Tripped breaker. Try turning it off and back on.

2. Loose wire or bad receptacle. Turn off the breaker and pull the receptacle out of the box. Check the connections.

3. Nail in the wire. Anybody drive any nails in the wall recently?

4. Bad breaker. Have your friend check the breaker with a voltmeter.

Ask your friend whether he got no voltage to ground on just one of the hot wires or on both of the hot wires.

There are millions.
First, turn the breaker completely off then on. Test the outlet again.
