current sensing switch - One more question

OK, I'm almost there. I found a current sensing relay that will close a 120 V circuit when current is sensed in another wire and I found a time delay shut-off relay that will provide AC to the fans for my projector for several minutes after the projector has shut down. All I need is a low voltage switch that will close when power is applied and will open when power is removed (like a solenoid).

Any suggestions?

A 12 or 24 volt ice cube relay. It should be available at any local electrical supply house.

Dimmed lights humming

Have a 550W load on a 600 watt dimmer. Lights seem to give off a high pitch whine. I read here that I should get a new brand of bulb or a higher load dimmer. In this case the dimmer would be the cheaper of the two. Will this (a 1000w) dimmer fix the problem? Lutron dimmers that size are approx. $40 Thanks, MarkRead More

50 amp circuit with smaller receptacle?

Looking at the spec sheet for my oven it says tat 3.7 KW rating at 240v only requires only 20 amp circuit min protection. Can I use a just 30amp receptacle. My feeling is yes. Just like putting 15 amp receptacle on a 20 amp circuit. ThanksRead More
