outdoor lampost
Why is the so many different color wires in the lamp post n how do you hook it up. I purchased a new light....basic black, white , n copper wires came with it. When I removed the old lampost there were also red and green wires......which goes where.....totally confused here...HELP!!!!!!!!

Does the lamp post contain a built in photocell for dusk to dawn operation ? If so,the black from the lamp socket will attach to the red from the photocell. the white from the socket will connect to the whites in the pole. The bare copper from the fixture will attach to the green .
