fan runs, cut power fan still runs huh???
I swear to God this is the truth. I live in a 7 year old condo, and in the hall bathroom their is 2 switch wall plate. One switch activate the light, and the other switch activate the ceiling fan ( recessed in the ceiling, & he switch is the white wall plate really wide two switch) Well today I come home and find the fan running continuously. So I reach in and hit the switch to turn off. Still runs, So i check the opposite switch light, light comes on.,, I turn of both switches fan still runs., So I figure the switch is defective. I take wall plate apart, and make sure I am working on the right switch. ( which is easy enought even for mew to know, and I completely take the switch off the mount and the wires are now two bare coppers sticking out in the 'wind', and the fan is still running. HUH? what is this? Figures my luck, I try and save some coin and do it myself,, and I can't even get this right.
So forum. what should I do? I was going to start taking the ceiling fan down and apart, but figured no., That is dumb, 'cause it is getting juice from one place , and that is the wall. Now in behind the switch are other wires coiled around and have a screw top on them, would the answer lay in there???

I think "screw top" = "wire nut".
If a switch loop is involved, it is completely realistic for the fan to run even with the wires in the wind. However, it doesn't sound like a switch loop is involved, but I may be wrong.
Start by telling us everything in the switch box again. This time, give us the wire colors and tell us exactly what connects to what. Please identify which cable each wire is in. Don't bother mentioning the grounding wires.
