Conduit Requirement

I'm running some new 12/2 from entrance, thru attached garage, then up into bedrooms. Garage walls are fiinished with plywood. Can the 12/2 be tacked to the plywood for its run along the garage wall, or is conduit necessary here?

If the wire is subject to damage, you are required to protect it. We cant see where you are running it.You will have to make that call. Personally, I hate exposed wiring of any type and would either run pipe or remove the plywood and run it in the walls.

Thanks for the reply. It would be running in the top corner, so I don't know how any damage could occur, but I'll go ahead and put it in conduit. Should I use pvc or metal?

Use PVC. There is no chance of it becoming energized by a knicked or damaged wire.
