No power to receps or lights in part of basement
last night my wife was cleaning the carpet in the basement with a carpet cleaner and all of a sudden it stopped working and 2 lights stopped working along with 2 outlets.
We only bought the house a year ago so I have no clue how they wired the basement and I have found some weird stuff going on in the past with the previous owners home improvements (lights being run from room no where near each other).
Anwyay, I have a 100amp fuse panel (which I plan on getting changed to a circiut panel when I get the money), and the outlets and lights are on 2 walls of the basement.
I checked just about every outlet I could locate and everything works except the 2 receps and the 2 lights.
1. How do I tell if the fuse is blown? Is it obvious?
2. Could the carpet cleaner popped the receps and the light bulbs...fry them all?
I just installed new receps a few months ago so those are updated...
Thanks,
John

You need to determine if the fuse is good. If you can't tell if the fuse is blown then try swapping the fuses one at a time with a new fuse. If that doesn't cure it then you probably have a loose connection in one of the outlets. It could be in one of the dead outlets or one that is working. If there are lights on the circuits it could be there also.
