Panel in shed
I want to install a small sub-panel in my back-yard shed.
The most convenient place would be just inside the sliding door.
Does Code allow the this installation close to the door...or...is there a required distance?
Thanks.

The code specifies no distance from a door. You must have 30" side to side clearance, 36" clearance in front, and 6'6" of headroom. There can be nothing stored in this space.

I do not see 30" requirement side to side for equipment 121 volts - 600 volts where access for inspection, replacement of parts or other servicing is not possible from the sides or back of the panel. NEC 110.26(A)(2) says width *in front* of such equipment shall be 30" or the width of the equipment (panel), whichever is greater, but does not specify width or clearance to the sides. However, the hinged door access to the panel must be able to open a full 90 degrees. 3-feet in front of panel with nothing stored in this zone is minimum requirement, along with John's stated 6'-6" headroom (with some exceptions permitted in single-family dwellings).
