Question Rewiring a table lamp

I am trying to rewire a table lamp, and I have to install a new socket. The on eI have is a dimmer socket. There is the silver terminal for the neutral, but the brass terminal has no screw and looks like a transistor. How do I attach the hot wire to this?

The part did not come with directions and the previous socket was a regular one not a dimmer (my wife prefers dimmers) and had two terminal screws.

Part of the problem is that I cannot picture what you have. so it is difficult to make sugguestions blindly. There are different ways it can be done for example an insulated butt-spilce could be used if there were room for it and it did not prevent the fixture from being put together properly. The same could also be said for a wire nut. If there is limited room then maybe solder would be in order.
