Outlet controlled by switch

We have installed an outlet under the sink to run the dishwaher and garbage disposal. One half of outlet is always hot while the other is controlled by a switch. While doing some last minute checks before finishing installing appliances, we noticed that the circuit tester glowed very faintly while the switch was in the off position. Any ideas why we are getting some power while switch is off?

What type of tester are you using? This is probably just phantom voltage read from the common neutral connection at the receptacle But I would still check to see if the two hot wires were terminated without any small strands of wire touching the other terminal. Since the terminals are so close together this is a common problem.

Thank you. We were kind of thinking/hoping that it was some kind of ghost reading. We had already replaced the outlet and checked the wiring at the switch. Always something to worry about when you renovate an older home! :-) And we have lots to go.
