"Free" old multimeter/tester

I just got a free multimeter/tester (Sears 41 range), but it has no directions. Are there any general rules of thumb (besides not testing stuff with juice going through it) on using one of these babies?

I really haven't a clue and any help, directions and suggestions would be groovy.

Thanks
