shower faucets

Just installed a shower and the faucets won't shut off. replaced stems and still won't shut off. What have I done wrong and how do I fix it?

You don't say whether you're dealing with a ball type, washer type, lever handled,....
It'd help to know what style faucet we're working on. Please don't take this the wrong way but, is it possible the faucet is installed backwards?

bedroom light

A week ago while my bedroom light was on (which is also a ceiling fan) I heard a loud "pop" and then saw sparks fly from the light/fan in the ceiling. It threw the breaker, so I turned the switch on the wall off and went and flipped the breaker back. When I came back in and flipped the light switch back on, it happened again. Now when I turn the light switch on the fan blades slowly move then stop. When I turn the light switch off the fan blades start turning the opposite direction. I was told to have this checked out but was wondering if it is something I can do myself? Any advice? The ceiling fan was installed 2 years ago and I have not had any problems prior to now.Read More

So, if I have time, patience, and a teacher, how realistic would it be for me to do the initial stages of re-wiring my new house? I have NO experience with anything like this, and am more than eager to learn. The final stages, of course, would be done by an electrician.Read More
