Ceiling Fans
#1

Okay, trying to hook up a ceiling fan. I have two wires that previously hooked up a light (1 yellow and 1 white). Also many other wires but notably a orange one that is connected to nothing. Trying to determine If the Orange wire is ground or should I spice into a black wire that has many other splices into it already.

If by "orange" you mean a bare uninsulated copper wire, then yes that probably is ground. If, however, you mean a wire with orange-colored insulation, then that most certainly is not ground, and it could be fatal to connect it as ground.
I can't quite picture what you are doing, but I urge you to be very, very careful. Never guess!
