Cool Permit vs. No Permit

I recently installed recessed lighting and a few switches without a permit. Is there any impact of not having a permit when I go to sell my house? What about for liability (insurance) purposes? Thanks in advance!

Talking Disclosure

Make sure you add what you did on your disclosure list when you sell your house; and get buyer's signature. As long as they read, understand and sign that disclosure form, you're off the hook.

If you did everything per code and common sense, liability won't be jeopardized. However, if you did something wrong in violation of code and the insurance company finds out in case of house fire, it'll cost you DEARLY.

Please weigh in these factors when you work on your house without license or permit. I'm not implying to pay an arm and a leg to the greedy licensed contractors; I just wanna emphasize to cover your butt and do jobs RIGHT THE FIRST TIME, using correct parts and acceptable techniques per code.
