Service Connection in Florida

Hi
I have recently moved to Florida. Gulf Power is the utility provider. My previous experience with electric companies was along the lines of company providing meter and meter box. The utility company would also connect incoming service to your meter box. I understand that Gulf Power requires owner to provide meter box. I am confused as to whether Gulf will connect to my meter box or do I have to provide wiring out of box to service drop ? I would appreciate anyone familar with Florida utilities to commentt

I always thought that it was up the homeowner to provide the meter box and feeder. The power company would run the line to the meter if the service was underground, or to the mast if aboveground. They will usually make the connection at that point, unless it's an existing service work.

Contact your local power co. They will provide detailed drawings of their requirements for the services in your area as well as answer any questions you may have.
