Battery operated light switch?

I have a situation where I would like to make a three way switch where I cannot run wire from an existing single switch. Is there a product that would allow me to communicate with an existing switch single throw switch with a battery operated remote switch and a receiver placed in the existing switch?

Thanks

Gp to www.x10.com, they will probably have what you need.

Home improvement stores usually carry something they call a "remote switch". It sells for about $30. You replace the existing single-pole switch with a combination switch and receiver. Then you can stick the transmitter switch on the wall anywhere you want within about 50 feet -- no wiring required (it has a battery). It makes the two switches act like 3-way switches.

Thanks. I would love it if someone on this forum actually had one of these goodies to let me know if they eat up batteries like crazy or if the batteries last a long time (obviously it depends on usage, but if I would need to change batteries weekly, that would become expensive!)

Cheers,
