Turning three-way swith into a receptacle

I am trying to turn a three way switch into a plain old receptacle. The switch currently runs a ceiling light in the kitchen, but is never used and would be much more useful as a receptacle. Is this as easy as just taking out the switch and hooking up the wires to the screws on the switch, or is there something I need to watch out for?

Most of the time, it's impossible. I suggest you look for power elsewhere.

But if you want to explore the slim possibility that it is possible, and there is one, then turn off the breaker, pull the switch out, and tell me precisely everything you see. I need to know all cables, all wires, and all connections.

Also tell me what electrical test equipment you have, if any.

IF this is a 3way switch then you also have another 3way somewhere. It might be possible to convert it to a receptacle. It all depends how the wiring is connected. You need to tell us how it is wired. You will need to change the other switch to a regular 2 way.
How many wires and what are they connected to in the switch you want to convert? Same for the other switch and the light?
