Making an outdoor light and indoor ligh
I have a 3 wire outdoor light that I would like to add plug and switcht to. Can I use a lamp cord and plug with an in-line switch or should
I use some other wiring?
thanks, Bill
My fault I want to put this light inside and
plug it into a recp.

I would never use lamp cord outdoors, plus water can get into the in-line switch and cause shock hazard. Lamp cord also does not have a ground wire. I would use and exterior rated receptacle box and put a weather-resistant cover plate on it. If the recep. is going to be mounted on the light pole (if there is one) then mount the recep. box on the pole. Otherwise, where will the recep be in relation to the light? My guess for wiring would be conduit with compression type weather resistant fittings with black/white/green THWN wire (cheap and available at any decent home center. Hope that helps.

I understand now that the receptacle will be inside. But where will the light be? If the answer is outside, then how does the cord get from the outside to the inside. If the answer is inside, then you'll be using an outside fixture inside. Either way, it's a problem.
Can you give us the big picture?
