Low Voltage

My TV stopped working in one wall outlet, works well in others. Tested voltage in all and the one outlet that stopped working has only 88-89 volts, the other outlets have 122.

Whats happened? and how to fix?

If you have any GFI receptacles, check ALL of them for a "Tripped" mode.Also the possibilty the receptacle may be connected to a wall-switch.---Good Luck!!!

Could be what PATTBAA said. Could also be a loose neutral. If you have grounded receptacles, then go to your home improvement center and buy an $8 receptacle tester. It will help identify which.

check to see if your receptacles are backstab wired instead of screw wrapped. if this is the case, you could be getting a loose connection at the backstab or the receptacle that this one is fed from. If the connections are backstabbed, i reccomend you rewire to screw wrapping instead. Backstabbed connections are notorious for failing!

I recently added cable to my boys rooms in a joining wall. One of these rooms has an outlet next to cable box placement. The plan is to add another outlet on the other side (in other room). My question is regarding the wiring. Existing outlet has two lines coming in. How can I tap into the existing to activate the new one. Would appreciate some help.

grounding rod

I just added a room to home. The final electrical inspection was today and the inspector ask me where the grounding rod was(my home is a split level )He said without it my house could burn down. The walls are finished around the fuse box. I assumed that i had one when I had the house built 12 years ago. How do you find one,how much do they cost and will we have to knock down a wall? Is this a big project?He ran off and told me to call the electician back who by the way is subcontracted from the builder.
