Insulation - clearance to electrical box/lighting cans

Hi,

putting R13 insulation in the walls and ceiling. Walls and ceiling is exposed.

Q1) Do i need any clearance from the insulation to the electrical box ?

Q2) Do i need any clearance from the insulation to the lighting can? (recessed lighting to be installed)

Q1 no the insulation can be on or touching an electrical box

Q2 Maybe what type of can is it? If it is reted for insulation contact I/C then yes but if it says NON-I/C then the answer is no

15 amp fuse to 30 ?

I live in an older home and the electrical has been updated. My problem is now that it is summer I am running a window air conditioner and I am having problems with the breaker blowing when I try to use the vacuum cleaner. The breaker box has only a 15 amp fuse for the complete front room. That is used for TV, DVD, VCR, stereo, lamps ect. I was wondering if I could switch the 15 amp fuse for a larger amp like a 30? My way of thinking is the 30 amp fuse would be able to handle all the appliance and the air conditioner better then a 15 amp. But I'm not really that familiar with electrical issues and afraid it might cause some problems by doing this (like burning down the house ha ha). So if someone could help me by letting me know if this is possible I would appreciate. :)Read More

I doing a little "bungalow archaeology" during our renovation, I've found the original bathroom cabinet door to the bathroom. RIght now, an ugly awkward prefab one was just hanging over what I could barely make out as a hole in the wall. So. At 3 am one night, I took the cabinet off. And VOILA! Old cabinet space to fit door...except.... lazy electrician installed a "splicer box" in the space where the old cabinet was and covered it up with new cabinet. Where should this box be properly located? This doesn't seem like the right place.
