ceiling fan

Hello Folks, I added a couple of recessed lights to the existing ceiling fan/light combo, all on one switch. I forgot about operating the fan with the lights out!!! (stupid, but it was winter, and I never thought about the fan) I was thinking about tapping into a live line in the attic and wiring the fan only that way and running the fan from the pull chain only. Short of having to run a new line and trying to fish down the wall, anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help!!! Eric

Because the fan only has one white wire that serves both the fan motor and the lights, you must make sure the fan motor and the fan lights are on the same circuit. Otherwise you risk overloading the neutral.

3 way wiring

I will soon be running wire for an exterior light fixture on my detached garage. The plan is to have switches (3 way)at the back door of my house and at the door of the garage. Is there a way to power two lights instead of one? We would prefer to have a light at the garage door and at the corner so it provides adequate light. Thank you in advance for much needed advice. Single pole vs 3-way for timer switch

This may be a rather naive question: I want to install a timer to control two outside lights that are controlled by a 3-way switch. One of the 3-way switches (in a gang box of 4 switches) has been disabled (the cleaning crew kept flipping it!). The other switch that contols the lights is a single switch, which is where I want o put the programmable digital timer. Can I use a timer switch that is labeled "single pole," since the other wall switch is disabled? Or must I buy a timer switch that is labeled for use with a 3-way switch? TIA.:confused:
