15 amp outlets and switches on 20 amp circuit
I have just wired my first house and passed my rough inspection.
My question now is do I need to use 20 amp outlets and switches on my 20 amp circuits or can I use less expesive and easy to obtain 15 amp outlets and switches? Thank you in advance for your replys.

If one switch controlls 15A of lighting, then it would be the only device on that circuit and require a 20A switch. Devices must be installed within their ratings. The code permits 15A devcies on a 20A circuit as long as it is not the sole device (infering that the load is distributed amongst many 15A devices on the 20A circuit)

Well I think I understand, 15 amp recepticals on a dedicated 20 amp kitchen circuit would be ok however 20 amp switches would be needed on a dedicated 20 amp lighting circuit that has only one 20 amp device i.e. 20 amp track lighting. Is this correct?
