exhaust fan light combo
I have a fan light combo, wired according to diagram that came with it. Every time I flip the switch the light blows. What gives?
When I showed the electrician at home depot how it was wired he said it was right. What else could be the problem?

Just as a side note, some employees in the electrical isle at the hardware store are not electricians.
If it was wired correctly, it would have worked. Try to replace the unit and try again. You could also describe in detail what is there and what you have connected.

This is a very, very commonly reported symptom.
Unfortunately, you followed the manufacturer's directions. But you have a switch loop. And when you have a switch loop, the manufacturer's instructions are always wrong. Unfortunate, but true. I have often complained the manufacturer's installation instructions never tell you about switch loops, and switch loops are very common.
In addition to the fact that the breaker blows when you flip on the switch, you probably notice that the fan works fine when the switch is in the "off" postion (with the breaker reset). True?
You probably also had two wires of each color at the ceiling when you went to connect your fan, and you connected your fan's black wire to both black wires from the ceiling and your fan's white wire to both white wires from the ceiling. True? Unfortunately, this is wrong.
What did you take down before you put up the fan? I suppose you didn't look to carefully at how that thing was connected. True?
Post back with more information, and we'll tell you how to fix this.
