Outside wiring

I need to run a wire out to the pole so the electric company can hook it up.

My question is what type of wire am I looking at?
I have done wiring in a house but not from the box out.
I am thinking of puting it underground. Does that matter.
I guess I would use PVC pipe if I put it under.

Are there different types for underground or above?

Around here, the power company runs the wire to the meter base. You take it from there. In any event, you might ask the power company what wire they want.

This is going to be in Maine and I hope to have the meter put next to the pole.

Right now I am just trying to get an idea on price for wire so I wanted to know the type.

some outlets not working

Hi! On one circuit, at times, several but not all of the outlets do not work. For no reason. There is an old freezer on this circuit with a GFCI plug. That outlet stays on, but an outlet in one bath and the outlet outside go out. At times, it will be fine, for months. And then one day, the outlets go dead. You would think that all the outlets on this circuit would be effected. Have not had anyone look at it. Thank you for your time!Read More

Adding non-switched outlet from 3-way switch

I added an wall outlet to a hallway, and decided I'd run the power from the light switch located just above. I had forgotten that the switch is indeed a 3-way that controls the hallway light. Is it possible to run power to my new outlet from this switch? I can't seem to figure out which wires to select so that the outlet will always be hot. The switch has two black wires connected and one red, and there are two white wires coupled together in the box. Thanks for any advice you can provide.Read More
