Ceiling fan/light fixture to light switch

Intalling a ceiling fan/light fixture in finished garage. I have a HOT feed going into box, now hot feed to ceiling fan/light fixture: fixture black/blue to hot black feed, white to white, ground to ground, now i have a wire feed in the box out to light switch, which wires do i connect to make just the light to turn on/off?

I could guess, but I'd prefer to have more information before I do:

Did you replace an existing light with a fan/light?
Are there exactly two cables at the ceiling box, each with black, white and bare wires?
Is the switch already wired, and does it have one black, one white, and one bare wire connected to it, with no other wires in the box?

Assuming the answers are all "yes", then make the following connections at the ceiling:

Power feed black to switch cable white (and not to the fan at all).
Power feed white to white from the fan.
Both black and blue from the fan to the black from the switch cable.
Leave the switch alone.

No, yes, and no the switch is not wired yet and yes black, white, bare. But you gave me the right answer. Hot black to light switch white: hot white to white fan/light fix: black and blue to black switch. Leave switch alone?

Adding non-switched outlet from 3-way switch

I added an wall outlet to a hallway, and decided I'd run the power from the light switch located just above. I had forgotten that the switch is indeed a 3-way that controls the hallway light. Is it possible to run power to my new outlet from this switch? I can't seem to figure out which wires to select so that the outlet will always be hot. The switch has two black wires connected and one red, and there are two white wires coupled together in the box. Thanks for any advice you can provide.

need outdoor lamppost wiring help

I have a lamppost on my front lawn that is wired using 12-2 with ground and connected directly to its own 20 amp breaker in the breaker panel. The post worked great for a few years and then stopped working, with the light getting dimmer before going out altogether. I replaced the guts of the fixture being that they were all corroded. When I turn the breaker on, it immediately shuts off. I'm hoping to avoid digging up my lawn to replace the wiring. I hope someone can offer some advice. Thank you.
