Unhappy Help me!!! Kitchen light won't work

I'm going to kill my kitchen light. In the summer when the air conditioner (window unit) is on the kitchen light won't come on. I have to turn the A/C off for a while and even then I have problems with it. Is it the humidity or are the bulbs too cold? This is SOOOO frustrating. It is one of the long oak lights with 2 fluorescent tubes. Please help me before this drives me crazy. Barbara

I am not an expert, but the outlet that the a/c unit is plugged into and the light fixture are probably on the same circuit, and when the a/c unit is running, it saps too much power from light fixture for it to illuminate. The answer might be to have a dedicated circuit to the a/c unit installed.

Are these t-12 lamps ? if so then you are probabily correct about the temp. (How cold is it any ways?) Whens the last time you changed lamps how old is the fixture? If you are attached to the fixture then you can change the ballast to an electronic ballast and t-8 lamps. T-8 lamps operate better in the cold.
