light switch installation
two questions-
1- what happens if the wires are wired the opposite way and I go to turn on the circuit breaker,
2- can the ground wire just be connected to any metal object *

Your questions are extremely vague, but in general:
1- Nothing. If it is a single pole switch it will work fine.
2- No. The ground wire must be connected to a grounded object.
