Problems with My wiring
I added a breaker to my breaker box. I wired it to a receptical, it worked fine. I tied it to a switch and now it doesn't work. When I turned the breaker on after hooking everything up the light was on but the switch said off. As soon as I turned the switch to the ON position (which would turn the light off, because it is runnig backwards) it kicked the breaker. What is wrong and how do I fix it?

These are classic symptoms.
You apparently wired a switch loop. But you didn't do it correctly. Here's how to make the connections at the receptacle:
You apparently wired a switch loop. But you didn't do it correctly. Here's how to make the connections at the receptacle:
- Connect the power cable black to the switch cable white. Neither of these two wires attaches to the receptacle at all.
- Connect the power cable white to a silver screw.
- Connect the switch cable black to a brass screw.
- Connect both grounding wires to a pigtail that then runs to the green screw. A green wire nut with the hole in the end is convenient for this, but you can do it with a regular wire nut and a pigtail too.
- Mark both ends of the switch cable white wire with black marker to indicate that it is hot.
