Another Clamp Question

GETTING A BARE #6 GROUND INTO A METER SOCKET. I WAS JUST GOING TO RUN IT THROUGH ALONG WITH THE SE CABLE, AND THEN I THOUGHT, OH NO, THIS IS A CODE INFRACTION. WHEN I CALL MY ELECTRICAL SUPPLY GUY, HE LOOKS AT ME LIKE I AM NUTS. "NEVER HEARD OF A CABLE CLAMP CERTIFIED FOR BARE WIRE" HE SAYS. SO HOW AM I GONNA DO IT? THE INSPECTOR COMES ON MONDAY MORNING, AND IT IS CRUNCH TIME.

I am assuming that the ground wire is coming from the ground rod. If this is the case it is best to use a piece of PVC to run the grounding wire into the meter can. If you do this then there is no need for a clamp of any kind.

There is a tiny knockout hole in the bottom of the meter base - about the size of a thumbtack. Knock it out and run your wire through - no need for a "clamp", just strap your ground wire within 12" of the box.
