Running electric to shed

I want to run a light and outlet to my shed. I was going to bring
the cable out from the house under the deck. Start the trench
at a deck post and run to the shed. I have to check code on the depth of the trench. The question I have is do I need to run conduite (spelling?) all the way to the shed? Can I just lay the cable in the botton of the trench? I was thinks of running water out there also. Can I lay both the plastic for the water and the cable together?

thanks

If you leave the house from a gfci you need only go 12" but if not 24 and you must use an underground wire. UF rated. Use a conduit to feed the vertical down to the bottom of the trench to protect it from damage,,, there is another identical post down a few threads, and yes, you can run water with it.
