Question Ceiling Fan Electrical Switch

SHOULD A SERIES OF FOUR CEILING FANS BE PUT ON AN
AN ADJUSTABLE VOLTAGE REASTAT TURN ON/OFF SWITCH???

WE HAD AN ELECTRICAN INSTALL THESE FANS ON THIS TYPE OF
SWITCH.
AS A LAYMAN, I BELIEVE A CEILING FAN SHOULD NEVER BE WIRED UP TO AN ADJUSTABLE VOLTAGE SWITCH. COULD CAUSE
THE MOTORS TO BURN OUT OR A POSSIBLE FIRE IF NOT TURNED OFF FULLY.

THANKS, BOB

A fan motor should never be put on an ordinary lighting dimmer. Fan lighting can be dimmed with such a dimmer as long as the wattage rating of the dimmer is not exceeded.

Go to this site and read the information on fully variable fan controls. It should answer your question quite nicely.
