220 outlet

220 outlet
I am replacing a drop in cook top with an oven. The cook top is direct wired and I need to install a 220 outlet so the oven can be plugged in. I don't really want to have to use an electrician but I'm not experienced and am not sure about the difficulty involved.

Is the new appliance an wall-oven ,or a range which sets on the floor? We need to know the wattage-rating of the new appliance, and the ampere rating of the circuit-breaker that protects the circuit.
Possibly the installation instructions for the new appliance specify the wire-guage to be used---- #10, #8, etc, and the rating of the C-B.-----"Connect to a 30-amp breaker"
