Outdoor Lights
#1

I recently installed a new motion sensor and now the porch light doesn't work. Firstly, one wall switch inside the house controls the porch light and motion sensor. Secondly, I removed the old motion sensor which was wire this way: 1 white to white; 1 red and 1 black wire pigtailed to the green grounding wire from the box; and 1 black to black. The new motion sensor only had one white wire and one black wire, which I wired: 1 white to white and the black to black. The green grounding wire coming from the box, I connected to the grounding screw in the new motion sensor. Once I completed the hook up, the new motion sensor works, but the porch light does not come on. Can someone tell me where I went wrong.
THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!

If I understand correctly, you sopliced the black lead from the fixture to the black lead in the box? Same for the whites? Then you grounded the fixture via the ground screw terminal on the mounting bracket or inside of the fixture?
If so, then you likely wired it correctly. At that point, you either have a setting out of whack on the motion sensor or you have a bad bulb.

Now both the porch light and motion sensor work. I wired the motion sensor this way: white to white from box, and used a wire nut to connect the black wire from motion sensor to ground wire (green) from junction box and the black wire from the junction box. Now both the porch light and the motion sensor work correctly.
Is everything good?
Thanks.

You still have a mess there.
In most correctly wired situations, black and red are hot wires (either all the time or switched) and would not be connected to a ground wire or terminal at any time, or under any circumstances.
Something is not wired properly. Please, for your own safety and the safety of anyone else who might get near the light, accurately determine what each wire is for, where it comes from and where it goes.
