Book Recommendations Please
Could someone recommend a really good book with LOTS of detailed pictures and instructions for a real novice? I want to add some lighting (such as wall sconces, cove lighting and maybe a pendant light) to my finished master bedroom. I have a general fix it book but I don't get it still. I have a ceiling fan and light in the ceiling all ready but want to get creative with some lighting. A library book or one I have to buy is fine. I just need to do the wiring myself as I can't afford to have an electrician. I have done very little projects such as changing light fixtures and switches and outlets. Thanks so much! It's great to have this forum!!

I recommend you visit your local home improvement center and spend an hour browsing the electrical wiring books. Find one with pictures that you understand and is written in a language that makes sense to you. Many people seem to like "The Black and Decker Complete Guide to Home Wiring". Check out Home Depot's "Wiring 1-2-3" as well. If you buy one or more of these, you might want to pick up a few library books to supplement it. I think it is extremely valuable to have more than one source of information so that you can better explore the options, and so that you don't miss something important. I also recommend that you don't just skip to the section of the book that applies to your project -- make sure you read the introductory chapters too.
While you're at the home center, browse the electrical aisle for a while too. This will familiarize you with the materials available.
