Question wiring

I have a question regarding some wiring. I had some fans professionally installed and the electrician wired them to another switch. I went to install a new light fixture but somehow, the original light switch now controls the other switch. (Meaning that the original must be turned on in order for the fans to be working) I would appreciate any help that can be given. Thanks.

In order to answer a question like this, we need to know what wiring is where. With the power off, remove the switch plate and very carefully remove the screws holding the switch in place, then pull the switches out so that you can see exactly what wires are connected where.

Let us know what wires go to each switch, and also about any other wires that are connected in the box and how they are connected.

You should always make detailed notes when you attempt to add wiring to an existing circuit.

Tell us what you changed. It might be as simple as changing 2 connections.
