Question on "Have power but not working?"
#1

Heidelburg and I are married.
I couldn't wait this morning to see what the response to our e-mail was last night so I created my own login name at the office.
I got no response by responding to Heidelburg's post so am starting a new question.
In response to last post on his message, I know that Heidelburg came home Friday night and the porch light would not come on. He then changed the light bulb. The computer room outlets were working the night before as well.
Before all this happened, the porch light would flicker if the front door was slammed too hard. Heidelburg and I plan to pull all of the outlets and move all backstop wiring to the screws. We think that checking each of the outlets and re-wiring them all, will fix the problem. We also will rewire the light switches and get them out of the backstops.
Any other suggestions on what else to try?

"back-stop wiring to the screws" is an oxymoron!!!! (ha ha)----Seriously, "back-stab" device-connections are used for El Cheapo reasons to avoid the more reliable terminal-screw connection which "takes time!".(probably measured in seconds).
I suggest you first check at the switch-box because of your "door-slams-lites-out" condition. Please know the problem could be a defective wire-nut connection in addition to a defective "back-stab" connection which is a common problem indeed. A wire-nut conection in an outlet-box usualy involves 3 or more wires. After you "un-thread" a Wire-Nut you should find all the wires twisted together.
Good Luck & Enjoy the Experience!!!!!!!!

To say "I shot from the hip" is no excuse!!!!! Hope to learn from this humiliating experience. As I'ved stated previously, I try to use this Forum to improve my"Communication Skills" which includes a correct analysis of what I'm reading in addition to how I express and explain my ideas to others.
