Wiring

Just finished a mother-in-law apartment and I am installing a sub-panel in the apartment. I am running a:

10/3 for power
door bell wire
Alarm wire to put the apartment on the house security (brinks)
and a mini8 Coaxial for Satelite TV

Can I run all these lines together in one conduit? Or do they need to be seperated?

Thanks in Advance,

O

No, you cannot put them in the same conduit. You need to separate the line-voltage stuff from the low-voltage stuff. This is required by the electrical code for safety, and is recommended to minimize interference (although interference with the things you mention would be very unlikely).

10/3 won't give you much power (7.2KW), but it might be enough if the apartment is small and has no 240-volt equipment.

Thanks

Thanks John I figured it needed to be seperated just wanted to make sure. I plan on running the 10/3 outside and the other 3 wires inside the conduitI have to nake about a 30 foot run, and the apartment is basically a bedroom and a bathroom. with a 110 window a/c.

Thanks again,

Ole
