according to usa code...

Not in NEC for a residence. Many AHJs limit you to 8 on a 15 A and 10 on a 20 A circuit. This is also the commercial rule where each recep is 180 V-A, then the circuit is derated 20%. It is probably a good idea to follow the commercial rule unless you are very sure of the loads to be served by the receps.
