electrical repair

Here's the deal - I have 5 flourescent lights on one switch. The lights flickered a few times and then went out. I've checked the curcuit breaker and replaced the switch. I'm not quite sure how to proceed. My thought is to check all of the connections between the switch and the first light. If there aren't any loose connections, what do I do then? Thanks in advance for any info.

Is anything in your electrical system new? Anybody changed anything?
Is a tripped GFCI a possibility? In what room are the lights? Who installed them and where did they get the power?
Is anything else out on the circuit?
Is the switch a dimmer?
Did you shut off the circuit breaker, or just check it?
What do you mean check all of the connections between the switch and the first light? How many can there be?
If these don't cast any suspicions, then testing for power at every box on the circuit in the next logical steap.
