I am attempting to install a ceiling fan . The fan is going into a ceiling that doesnt have existing wiring. I am trying to jump off of a switch that is existing for my closet light. I have installed a double switch box and jumped off to the new switch but when I turn the fan on the closet light comes on very dim. Wehn I turn on the light on the fan the light in the closet comes on. I am very confused please help. thanks big d.

Tapping power from a switch is often impossible. Before you started, was there just one pair of wires in the switch box, and were there both a black wire and a white wire attached to the switch. If the answer is "yes", then you attempted the impossible. You need to find another source of power. An unswitched receptacle is usually a good choice, as long as that receptacle is not serving a kitchen, bathroom, dining room or laundry area. You can run another cable from this receptacle to either the switch box or to the ceiling (your choice).
